About Conference
It is a great pleasure and honor to extend a warm invitation to attend the Two Day National Conference and Workshop on “Advances in Biopolymers-2018” to be held on 30th-31th October, 2018.
Biopolymers are the backbone of life in itself and exploration of its properties in and outside the living system promises to be a stepping stone for a better tomorrow. Human beings have been employing biopolymers for sustenance from times immemorial. Regardless of the day to day applications of biopolymers to the common man, there has been an upsurge of knowledge as to how they can be transferred into substances with ultra-functioning abilities. This has extended its applications to different industries including pharmaceuticals, food, agriculture, cosmetics, textile, printing, biosensor engineering and construction. Behind the art of formulating food and pharmaceutical products with predetermined characteristics and targeting them to specific tissues with utter perfection, biopolymers make up a prolific raw ingredient. Chemical composition, type of bonding, structural orientation and size of the biopolymer are the key variables that determine its functionality. A mere alteration in any one of these factors could result in polymers with different applications. While there is a long list of highly reputed international journals dedicated to biopolymer research, the present conference provides a platform for everyone related to the field to get enlightened regarding the most recent achievements made in this field. Hopefully, the latest aspects of global biopolymer research will be shared in the conference by an extensively diverse group of experts in the country.

It gives me immense pleasure to introduce you to our Two Day National Conference and Workshop on “Advances in Biopolymers-2018”. This is the fourth national conference organized by the Department of Food Science and Technology since its inception and we look forward for possible help and assistance from our fellow researchers for extension of these activities for the scientific cause in general and the welfare of mankind in particular. Biopolymers knit the fibre of life and are of great importance in general. The biopolymers act as structural building blocks and energy particles on one side and are responsible for continuity of life on the other side. Apart from its fundamental role in the living system, the applications of biopolymers have been tremendously explored in food packaging, encapsulation of bioactive compounds and targeted delivery of nutraceuticals and drugs. At the micro and nano scales, biopolymers make up an important ingredient of extraordinarily functioning fibres, foods and medicine. I hope that students, scholars, scientists and participants from diverse research and academic backgrounds especially Food, Agriculture, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Pharmacy, Nanotechnology and other allied fields would participate in the conference and share both the fundamental as well as the advanced aspects of biopolymers and chalk out future course of action.
